I love the way the self-striping yarn looks when crocheted into hats and mitts..

I always think of my Grandma when I use this kind of yarn, because she always made me socks using striped yarn. She always made both socks identical, which I have learned isn't easy...finding the exact part of the stripe pattern to start with. I'm not quite so precise, and actually like the fun of having the mittens with different striped starts for a not-so-matching pair.

I have been making plenty of these hats this summer....there are quite a few little ladies running around Leduc sporting their adorable brimmed grannies! Why do I call them grannies?? Because the pattern stitch used in the hat is like a "granny square", which is a crochet term. I love them! They are cute, stylish and unique.

This is my spring/summer version of my chunky brimmed newsboy. It is made with cotton, so it is breathable and cool. Fits about the same as the winter version, but cotton stitches are a bit more defined so it has a bit different look. LOVE it!! Cotton colours are not as readily available in Canada..I have been ordering colours online.

I bought these gorgeous wooden buttons from a seller on Etsy. They are huge and beautiful!! I wish I had ordered more than four because they took nearly a month to get to me from the States. I have already sold them all with hats, but have a ton more on order. They are way more beautiful than the picture shows......

I have had lots of requests for skull and crossbone hats. I'm not sure how I feel about a little baby wearing this style, or for that matter, my beautiful girls. But, Hazel did go through a fairly serious Pirate phase last year and so I think they just think of it as a fun pirate hat. I have to admit, they do look pretty cute....

Sarina is modelling one that I made for a customer. She has requested the same one for herself, but the hat will be light purple and white stripes and the skull and bones dark purple.

I do love the little mini bones. SO cute. My favorite is the striped one, I think it would be adorable on a baby whose parents aren't into kittens and bunnies. Can't you just see Gwen Stefani's baby wearing this?!

I have been obsessed with these little cuties for a while now. They are so much fun to make and they make me so happy! Look at all their sweet little faces! They have safety eyes on, which are virtually impossible to get off, i tried to get some off with pliers and it took a lot of effort. If you were to give them to a baby to play with (chew on) you should still keep a close eye on them and check the eyes regularly.

Isla LOVED this little one. It is the perfect size for her to hold and roll around. She loved chewing on it. Isn't she scrumptious??

Willa also love love loves her owlettes. She carries them around all day. She likes to find cute places to perch them around the house.

I made this scarf for Hazel's teacher as a thank you for being such a wonderful lady all year. I used my favorite Noro yarn, because the colours reminded me of the colourful outfits Mrs. S wears all the time.

Baby Isla

Branden's sister had a beautiful baby girl last week!!! Her name is Isla and she is ADORABLE!!!!!!

When we were in Maui I picked up some yarn in a little quilt shop there that I love. As I was picking out fabrics the shop owner commented that what I chose was "not very babish", but I was pretty sure Heather and Eric would like it over teddy bears and kittens.

It has been a loooong time since I have done any quilting, so I was a bit apprehensive and decided on a simple quilt, since the fabric was quite busy. My friend has a big fancy quiting machine, so after I was done putting the quilt together she quilted it for me. I am thrilled with how it turned out and can't wait to give it to Isla!!

I used a soft, furry minky on the back of the quilt and on every other block on the front. It was tricky to work with, but I love how soft it is and how rich looking.

Love the sushi fabric!!!!

OOOOOOHHHHH!!! How precious! Looks like the quilt put her straight to sleep!!!

Craft Fair

I took part in a Craft Fair Fundraiser this weekend at our school. It was a bit slow, but we had a great time. Branden got called into work, so I brought the girls with me. They set up a little table and sold baggies of jelly belly's and handmade necklaces. They made nearly $30!! They loved getting money from people and finding change in their little money box.

I sold quite a few hats, lots of ribbon headbands and met lots of great people. I love these things!!
